MBO Sport - End Of Year Report 03/12/2013

Without a doubt the 2013 year couldn’t have been much better for the MBO Sport Yamaha team and its number one rider Kristian Christina Whatley but these achievements don’t just happen as it was down to the right personnel, the right components and a tremendous amount of team effort. In the Maxxis British Motocross, Kristian and the team set the tone for the year at round one on a cold, rainy, snowy and very muddy FatCat Moto Parc in mid March where, in the trying conditions Kristian stood on the third step of the podium behind two well established GP runners.Round two at Lyng in Norfolk Kristian struggled with the track conditions and ended the day in sixth overall, his worst finish the whole racing year. From then on he was never out of the top three and clinched this most prestigious championship with a race in hand.In the seven round Red Bull Pro National series the team and Kristian were unbeatable taking all seven overall wins and not letting any other rider occupy the top step of the winner’s podium and taking the championship with a round in hand.Kristian also took part in the British Masters Championship and took that title as well making him champion in all three of the major UK motocross championships, a feat never achieved before. Team manager Jon Giffard said after the season had finished, “Going into this year we felt quietly confident that with Kristian we could really get some good results and get back to where we left things in 2011 quite quickly. We knew how to make the bike suit him and having the best products, and team of people was going to be key. I don't think any of us expected to do what we did though. Kristian was so much more nature with his riding than ever before and his confidence grew with the team after every weekend. We kept the ball rolling right through the year, making no silly mistakes and just kept trying to take it step by step and making a few changes to the setup to keep everything heading in the right direction. Kristian’s form was faultless for most of the season and he has been untouchable in the hunt for all championships. We are so happy with the outcome and want to thank everyone that's been involved with the team over the years and this really is the best season any team could ask for. We are looking good for 2014 and will be doing everything possible to fight again for the championships we have”If you don’t move forward in motorsport, you’re going backwards and to that end the team are already working hard towards the 2014 year in an effort to retain the main championships they fought so hard to win this year. The team would like to thank all its sponsors, large and smaller, all those that contributed time and effort and most of all the fans of motocross and the MBO Sport Yamaha team.See you all next year.ResultsThe Maxxis British Motocross Championship                         1stThe Red Bull Pro Nationals Championship                             1st The British Masters Championship                                          1st
